The National Art Honor Society of Hendrick Hudson High School will be assembling 1,000 paper cranes in the HS main lobby after the sale in honor of the Japanese myth:
“Thousand Origami Cranes”
(千羽鶴, Sennenzuru)
An ancient Japanese legend that promises anyone who folds
a thousand origami cranes will be granted a wish by a crane.
The crane in Japan is considered a mystical creature, and is
said to live for a thousand years. 1,000 cranes is done when
someone has a wish, be it for peace, health or luck.
